Submitted Thank You

I would like to say thank you to everyone that had helped and did their part in fighting the GWF0-17 fire that had went through sturgeon lake reserve. Being one of the sturgeon lake firefighters we were there since the very beginning. From the first day of having been surrounded by and driving through the fire and heat smoke and embers fighting it back behind homes, buildings within the first hours, using the water as a shield to be able to walk out of the flames to continue fighting for our land and homes. Having to stay behind without shelter and food, watching our own home burn down while trying to save the community was the hardest and is the hardest part I have to deal with. Staying up 20hrs the first day then 18hrs a day after that for 21days straight. To being able to say the fire is out. The memories still feel fresh in the mind and will never go away but if I learned anything from all of this is that when push comes to shove and we as a community are threatened we unite and become a force unknown to most.
